About this archive

This is the 2008 graduating souvenir of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh — all 208 printed pages, scanned and made searchable. It is a personal project by a member of that class, not a publication of the college.

Finding yourself in thirty seconds

  1. 1. Press Ctrl K anywhere on the site, or tap the search box.
  2. 2.Type your name. Partial spellings work — the souvenir spells plenty of names its own way.
  3. 3. Not there? Open the book and jump to your branch. The group photograph opens each section.

How it was made

The book was scanned at 400 DPI. Every page was then read twice, by two different text-recognition engines, and their disagreements resolved field by field. Photographs are cut to the dashed rule the souvenir prints around each one, which is more reliable than looking for a face.

All of it ran on one machine. Nothing was sent to an external service.

What this means for accuracy

The text is machine-read, so it is fallible in specific ways: a scanned l becomes an i, a name loses its spaces, the column beside a testimonial bleeds a date into the middle of a sentence. Obvious errors have been corrected against the scan, but some will remain. Every entry links to the original page so you can check what the book actually says — and if something is wrong, tell me and I will fix it.

366 of 366 people have a portrait. Where a photograph could not be identified with confidence it was left out rather than risk showing the wrong person.
